It is said that the quality of the lives we live is based upon the quality of the questions we ask ourselves.
Jupiter is the planet of our Higher Self Aspirations, how we open, how we expand our consciousness, how we grow according to what really fills us and inspires us. We work with the same Jupiter themes for about a year, with a special emphasis during the retrograde period each year.
Jupiter entered his pre-retrograde shadow phase March 27th of 2021 at 22˚20’ Aquarius. He then stationed retrograde at 2˚11’ Pisces, June 20th. He stations direct October 18th, back at that same degree he entered the pre-retrograde shadow phase, 22˚20’ Aquarius. He will exit his post shadow phase when he hits the same degree he stationed retrograde, 2˚11’ Pisces, January 8th, 2022.
We get this opportunity every year, with a different 10 degree stretch, and these become the focal point degrees for our higher self evolution and expansion each year.
Where do you have 22˚ Aquarius to 2˚ Pisces in your chart? What do you notice has shifted or expanded in that area of your life? Did you have to let something go, or surrender something in order to make space for something better? This is usually what Jupiter offers us. When we can let go of something, usually an idea or belief or something connected to what we think is true, we are offered a gift far surpassing what we mourn to release. This process takes faith, and helps us to reconnect with our true Higher Self Aspirations - what we long to learn about and experience on the soul level.
Jupiter rules Sagittarius, Yang Mutable Fire, and is also the traditional ruler of Pisces, Yin Mutable Water. The Mutable strength in Jupiter’s rulership emphasizes the need to stay open, stay flexible, question things, allow your beliefs to be challenged, so that you can grow into your true holistic nature. Sagittarius and Pisces overlap in the ideologies of truth and faith. With the South Node in Sagittarius over this past year with Jupiter as the planetary ruler of the South Node, these have been major themes for what we are collectively exploring and refining.
We’ll get a sweet spot of Jupiter in Pisces with the South Node still in Sagittarius between December 29th, 2021, and January 18th 2022. These will likely be a potent few months where we get to really look at our freedom, what it means to us, how we are evolving this concept and applying it in our lives. After this point, the nodal axis will shift into Taurus/Scorpio, emphasizing the planetary rulers of Venus and Mars/Pluto.What we’ve been experiencing for the past year and a half is going to shift, and time will tell how w navigate that, but I think things that are currently overly abstract and intangible will become more embodied and practical, and we’ll be able to look at what’s going on with more embodied clarity and emotional sensitivity.
Speaking of sensitivity, how has this Mercury Retrograde in Libra been for you? Mercury also stations direct on the same day as Jupiter. Mercury entered his pre-retrograde shadow phase September 6th, at 10˚ Libra, stationed retrograde Sep 26 at 25˚ Libra, had an inferior conjunction with the Sun at 16˚ October 9th, and stations direct October 18th at 10˚ Libra, back where this cycle began.
He’ll exit his post retrograde shadow phase November 2nd, once he returns to that 25˚ Libra mark. So if any of these degree points are poignant for you, note that you’ll be experiencing a triple contact, one that began early September.
Mercury has also played an important role in our evolutionary journey this year as the planetary ruler of the North Node in Gemini. The Mercury retrograde phases of this year have been incredibly potent, and transformative for many. I’ve definitely felt them more intensely than other years and I chalk it up to the emphasis of being the planetary ruler of the north node.
Mercury has been supporting us in shifting our mindset. We so often want the answer that we forget how important the question is, and how easily we can be distracted if we are not asking the right questions for ourselves.
Hopefully this Mercury retrograde period has been an opportunity for you to get quiet and still, and hear your own voice, and your own answers and dispelled confusion for you. We tend to get confused when we’re overwhelmed, and much of the time the overwhelm comes from too much unprocessed information.
We are learning much about consent collectively right now, and how this relates to boundary awareness. I think we would do well to apply this boundary awareness also to our mental health and what information we take in. That’s been a potent Mercury Rx lesson for me. What about you?
I find it interesting that Mercury will be opposing Chiron Rx in Aries when he stations direct, the wounded or empower healer, depending on how you connect with Chiron. It’s definitely a point of major sensitivity either way. This Aries/Libra axis has been very action packed, and will continue to be emphasized with the upcoming Full Moon in Aries, October 20th.
This Full Moon will be at 27˚26’ Aries, with the light from the same degree of a Libra Sun, who is still conjunct Mars during this opposition. We also see the square to Pluto at 24˚ Capricorn emphasized here, inviting greater reflection on conscious relating while we collectively witness the power structure dismantle itself.
Something that’s come up for me often during this whole year and a half of chaos is how important it is to understand the strategies that are used against us. One time-old strategy has been to divide and conquer, and we know that we are stronger together. This Full Moon offers a chance of reconciliation collectively, as we gain some new perspective, or a new awareness of the other side of the story, from wherever we may be.
Think of this collectively, and also of course in your personal life. Something wants to be understood, and can help us to bring greater harmony, to see that really we can go beyond needing to be on opposing teams. We can have differing opinions and stances, and know that we are all still here under the sun, evolving together. As long as we release fear, and notice the insidious ways that fear tries to permeate our lives, we can transcend and transform our lower natures together, lifting each other up instead of batting each other down or needing to have an enemy.
How many of you are experiencing lightworker fatigue, or empath fatigue, or healer fatigue, or something along those lines?
This happens often when we think we’re alone in shining our light, or that the weight of the world need be on our shoulders. This is part of the Pluto in Capricorn lessons, emphasizing that we are definitely not meant to take on the weight of the world alone, but rather, just take on our part of it. Carry our own weight, and redistribute the responsibility so that we can have a greater chance at collective healing and getting beyond these debilitating pain points.
How does this dynamic play out for you?
I wish you a blessed Full Moon. May you find your strength, and find your people. May you feel comforted knowing you are never alone, and that all you are holding, processing, feeling and healing in your own life are immensely important for the collective. You are doing so much, and it’s okay, and encouraged even, to find others to lean on for inspiration and support while we all completely witness the dismantling of all we’ve come to know.
Sending out love and so much appreciation to you wherever you are on your evolutionary journey.
