How do you make meaning? - Sagittarius Season

Welcome to the season of Yang Mutable Fire. This is the cool blue of the slow burn, the fire of longevity and wisdom. The Sun enters Sagittarius Friday November 22nd, at 6:58am PST. Once again, we find ourselves in the spiral of our evolving Truth, looking up to the heavens and pulling into ourselves the light of higher perspective and expansion.

What is inspiring you right now? What is calling to you to be explored or discovered?

We’ve been collectively feeling into the expansive energy of Jupiter in Sagittarius this past year, so this isn’t new energy, but it is moving. If you can reflect back to what this year has felt like for you, you can get an idea of what will be intensified via the light of our Sun consciousness this season. Jupiter shows us what is being expanded in our consciousness so we can align ourselves more holistically with our Higher Self Aspirations. The Sun in Sagittarius shows us how we can make meaning of where our paths have brought us, and how to connect the dots of Truth that have been leading us toward greater joy and fulfillment in life.

To me, this is what we are discovering during each Sagittarius season – and the feeling of fullness or fulfillment is something both Jupiter and Sagittarius are quite familiar with. Jupiter expands whatever he touches, and Sagittarius is the cosmic outfit of the philosopher, the astral traveler, or the inner guru that helps us to set our sights on the light of Truth ahead of us.

The goal of Sagittarius is often shifting, and depending on what phase of Sagittarian expansion you are in, you may find you are looking for “more”, or conversely that you’re actually looking for “less”. As we know in life, more is not always better… sometimes less is more. While on the beginning of his quest the archer is full of enthusiasm and optimism for the many unknowns he will face and master on his journey, there comes a point after he’s been traveling a while where he wants to know specifically what he’s looking for. This is when Sagittarius becomes less about ultimate freedom that comes from the infinitude of choices in life, but rather about finding that single-pointed goal that keeps him in alignment with the Truth of life, or Natural Law.

This honing in on a single-pointed focus feels very much like the vibe for this year’s Sagittarius season, as we all come a bit closer to the upcoming season of self-mastery – Capricorn stellium!

Jupiter is now in the final degrees of Sagittarius, and will be entering Capricorn December 2nd (at 10:20am PST), really solidifying the beginning of this immense Capricorn stellium we will fully feel into in January of 2020.  This is the expansion of focus, concentration and discipline on our path to wholeness, collective healing and fulfillment.

Discipline is simply remembering what we want. On whatever levels you are seeking fulfillment and joy, remember that where you put your efforts and your energy is where you will see the results. We can create structures and systems in our lives that serve our highest good, and much of this is predicated upon us having a solid foundational system, based on Truth. It’s challenging to build a sustainable system whether its individually or for the broader collective when the foundation is based on limiting beliefs or straight-up untruths. It becomes our job this season to weed out those untruths in our individual psyches, so that as a collective we can support each other to thrive. Hopefully we’re learning a thing or two from observing what’s going on environmentally to be able to see how that is reflecting our own human psyches. We are stronger together when we work as a collective toward the greater good of All, but it’s the tricky disagreements and attachments to untruths that get us in trouble and tend to keep us stuck. It’s also the limiting framework of our consciousness that makes us believe that something is only true if we can physically see it, so it’s also our task to expand the realm of our conscious sight and perception to be able to see beyond what has been limiting us.

As we expand our perception, we can invite in the energy of Truth and Love, and we can connect with the Natural World around us and within us to do this. If you feel at all stuck and unsure of where to begin on your quest for Truth, start with what is inspiring to you. What are you curious about? Allow yourself to be guided by your sense of wonder, and trust that you’ll be intuitively guided where you need to go, each step of the way, if you’re listening. We can intentionally attune ourselves to a higher frequency of inspiration, something to lay as the foundation of the new paradigm we are shifting into over this next year.

Sagittarius rules Natural Law, and therefore we can observe the natural cycles to connect deeper with how this Truth moves through us in our own experiences. Let’s take the recent Mercury transit as an example. Mercury has roughly 116-day cycles that repeat 3 times a year, giving us our yearly trifecta of Mercury retrograde seasons. This cycle can be further broken up into phases that emphasize different mental energies and patterns. The Mercury transit, or the interior conjunction (when Mercury is conjunct the Sun in between Earth and Sun) marks the beginning of a new cycle of thought, similar to the energy of a New Moon. Then when Mercury stations direct, he begins to move Westward to his most Western point of elongation, and this phase is where he begins to accelerate, moving faster through his orbit as perceived from Earth, moving into the future. This is similar to the first-quarter phase of Moon/Sun, where we are really getting to work on those intentions that were seeded during the new phase. Since we’re still in that new phase currently, we may not fully be aware of what exactly has been seeded, but trust that when the times comes, you’ll know what the focus is for you throughout the rest of this cycle. You can make educated guesses around what’s being seeded based on where you had Mercury Rx transit through your chart this past season, and just keep that in mind as we continue through this Mercury cycle.

When Mercury conjuncts the Sun again in Capricorn next year, this will mark the exterior or superior conjunction, where Mercury is farthest from the Earth on the other side of the Sun. This is a time similar to the full moon phase, where our mental processes find completion or meaning, and we are working on a practical level to ground down into what information we’ve gathered, and really apply it to our lives in a meaningful way. Then, when Mercury stations Retrograde again next year continuing the water Rx pattern in Pisces, then we will be in that final phase, similar to the balsamic phase before the new moon, when everything is spiritualized to its highest degree and you distill the essence into the most potent medicine of the entire cycle. Then we begin again at the next interior conjunction.

Observing these natural cycles is what has given us the opportunity to make meaning of these cycles. We didn’t invent Mercury, or his orbital pattern; we’ve simply observed it and correlated to Earthly events and experiences. This is the same approach we can take when connecting to the flows of Natural Law, and then apply it to our lives in a way that has validity based on our perception of reality. The trick here is to not get too comfortable, or rigid, or dogmatic with our observations and correlations, so that we get to the point of believing we have the answer for everyone else. We all have a slightly different quest, but all with the core of learning how to live our purpose and love what is.  We can use this same approach of observing our cycles with each planet, sign and house in our charts, and this is how we construct our story of who we are and what we’re doing here.

More cycles to observe this month:

Moon is conjunct Juno at 6˚ Libra, square the nodes – what is being mirrored to us about who we are by our soul contracts, committed people in our lives, or the general path of our commitments?

New Moon in Sagittarius Nov 26 7:06 am PST at 4˚03’ – yod to the Moon/Sun, involving a loose sextile between Uranus and the North Node in Cancer, pulling in self-awakening through knowing Truth of Self, trine Chiron

Chiron in Aries trine Sun in Sagittarius – healing our perception so we can expand beyond limiting ideas of self, healing our relationship with our instinctual nature, coming back to a natural wildness

Ceres moved into Capricorn 9:12 pm nov 15, square Chiron – nurturing our personal path of dedication, responsibility, initiation into the greater mysteries of life and service

Mars enters Scorpio Nov 19, will oppose Uranus in Taurus at the beginning of Sag season, then opposing Vesta on the same day that Mercury enters Sagittarius, Dec 9th – taking action on what we’ve learned via the Mercury Rx in Scorpio period, pulling in guidance from Uranus and Vesta around how to shake loose our attachments to certain routines, and instead craft a new loyalty to the rituals that serve us, moving from routine into ritual is more powerful and long-lasting, gives you the space to liberate yourself and change what needs to be changed, while still honoring what is essential in your daily life

Mercury stations direct Nov 20, 11:12 am PST at 11˚35’ Scorpio, Mercury in post-retrograde shadow phase until Nov 26 when he reaches 27˚ Scorpio again – observe these cycles, what is coming up for you in your mental patterns? This is the time to observe what has been seeded during the Mercury transit to the Sun, and connect with how you can use the knowledge of these cycles to your benefit

Venus enters Capricorn Nov 25 4:28pm PST – this pulls our point of attraction into people, situations, and events that support sustainable development, self-mastery, laying practical foundations, all of which can be applied with relationships of all kinds. Venus enters Aquarius Dec 19 10:41pm PST (Venus in Capricorn for 24 days).

Neptune stations direct Nov 27 4:32am PST at 15˚55’ Pisces – coming into greater clarity around connection to spirit, coming out of confusion of boundaries, self, deception, disillusionment, into greater awareness of how love is always operating in our lives

Full Moon in Gemini Dec 11th, 9:11 pm PST at 19˚51’ – this is when we get to observe our process of connecting with Truth in the highest illumination. We can find the balance between the need for a single-pointed focus of awareness on our journey, with the ability to still appreciate and respond to the relativity of Truth, acknowledging that at all moments in our cycles, we are learning, growing and expanding, and that while we can stay on track with our single-pointed focus of our goals, there is always room for considering alternate viewpoints. This can bring the ideal balance of Gemini/Sagittarius, the axis of Truth and Knowledge, where we can see all vantage points, and still be able to use our inner compass that is aligned with Truth to guide us forward in our own personal choices.  This could be a time where you finally find the necessary piece of information that brings greater synthesis to the whole (Full Moon squares Neptune, accessing Timeless Truth).

Chiron stations direct Dec 12 at 7:47pm PST at 1˚26’ Aries – after having been Rx since July, this will be a strong step forward in our personal healing. You may find that what you’ve been reviewing in yourself has found greater maturity, and that you’ve leveled up in your ego awareness. It’s not about transcending the ego, it’s about maturing it, so it knows it serves the heart.

Some thought questions to get you started on your journey:

What has inspired me over this past year? What am I integrating now because of this path?

What 3 beliefs have served me best this past year? What 3 beliefs have brought challenges?

What beings from the Natural World have been guiding me, and what have been their messages of wisdom?

When was the last time I meditated with a tree or plant? Go choose a tree friend to connect with, ask if you can share space with them, and receive anything they wish to share. Make a weekly (or daily) practice of this, and thank them for their wisdom.
